Question

An audio signal um=20sin2π(1500t) modulates a carrier uc=80sin2π(100000t). The value of percent modulation is ________.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Given data:

The modulating signal, um=20sin2π(1500t).....1

The carrier signal, uc=80sin2π(100000t).....2

Step 2. The formula used:

In general, The modulating signal, um=Amcos(ωmt)......3

The carrier signal, uc=Accos(ωct)......4

where Amand Ac are Amplitudes of signal in metres

By comparing 1 with 3, and 2 with 4, we get

Am=20m

Ac=80m

The percentage modulation is given by, AmAc×100

Step 3. Finding percent modulation:

%modulation=2080×100=0.25×100=25

Hence, the percent modulation is 25
