Solution
When an electric current passes through a conductor (like a high resistance wire) the conductor becomes hot after some time and produces heat. This is called the heating effect of the Electric Current.
The passage of an electric current through a conducting solution causes chemical reactions. As a result, bubbles of gas may be formed on the electrodes. Deposits of metal may be seen on electrodes. Changes in the color of solutions may occur. The reaction would depend on what solution and electrodes are used.
The magnetic effect of electric current is known as the electromagnetic effect. It is observed that when a compass is brought near a current-carrying conductor the needle of the compass gets deflected because of the flow of electricity. This shows that electric current produces a magnetic effect.
