Question

An electric dipole of length 2cm is placed with it's axis making an angle of 60° to a uniform electric field of 10^5 N-C-1.If it experiences a torque of 8√3 N-m, calculate

(i) magnitude of the charge on the dipole.

(ii) potential energy of the dipole.

Solution

in the above given solution 8mC is 8milli coloumb which is same as 8x10^-3 C
in the second answer there is a mistake p=q2dEcos(theta) here the problem is 2d is taken as two times the seperation between the charges... Actually d is the half of speration and 2d=seperation then
P will be the half of the answer provided... That is 8j
