Solution
An electric fuse is based on the heating effect of an electric current.
When current flows through a conductor, a part of the electrical energy of the supply source is used in doing useful work and the rest of the electrical energy is used in producing heat. This is called the heating effect of electric current.
Fuse is used as a safety device that is made up of a material having a low melting point and high resistance.
When a high value of current passes through it, it breaks the circuit by melting and hence protect electrical appliances from getting damaged.
