An electric immersion heater is switched on for 8 minutes. The heat supplied by it raises the temperature of 500g of water from 10oC to 60oC. Calculate the power of heater in watts.

Considering the system to be isolated from the surrounding.
Energy required to raise the temperature of water by 50 degrees is 0.5kg×4200×50=105KJ.
Power of heater=energy per unit time=1050008×60=218.75W
