Question

An electric motor is rated 1.5 KW 250V.Calculate a)current flowing into the motor b)energy consumed by it in one second c)the time in which it will consume 90 kWh of energy

Open in App
Solution

here we use some equation

given that power of motor = 1.5 KW = 1500 W

we have power = voltage * current = VI
current = power /voltage

a) current flowing through it = 1500/ 250 = 6 ampere

b)energy consumed = power *time

= 1500*1 = 1500 joule

c) the time in which it will consume 90 kWh of energy

we have energy = power * time

90* Kwh = 1.5 Kw *time

time = 90*1/1.5 = 60 hr
