Given, the rating of the appliance as 1000 W, 250 V

i.e. Power = 1000 W, Potential difference = 250 V, time = 20 hours
Since the appliance is connected to a voltage source whose potential difference is equal to the voltage rating, the power consumed will be equal to the given power rating.

Thus, Electrical energy = power x time = 1000 x 20 = 20000 Wh = 20 kWh

Cost of electrical energy = electrical energy consumed in kWh x unit cost
= 20 x 4 = Rs. 80
