Solution

Explanation:

  1. An electromagnet is a temporary magnet that acts like a magnet when an electric current flows through a copper wire and loses its magnetism when the current stops flowing.
  2. It has a soft iron piece called the core with an insulated copper wire wound on it.
  3. If you want to separate a large mass of iron scrap, move the electromagnet on the scrap and pass current through the electromagnet so that the iron is attracted to the electromagnet.
  4. After the iron scorpion is lifted by the electromagnet, then move it towards the iron scorpion container and stop the electric current in the electromagnet, then it will loosen the magnetic properties there and the iron scorpion will fall into the iron scrap container.
  5. In such way we can separate iron scarp from non magnetic scrap.

Thus, An electromagnet is used to separate large mass of iron scrap.
