Question

An electron after being accelerated through a potential difference 100 V enters a uniform magnetic field of 0.004 T perpendicular to its direction of motion. Calculate the radius of the path described by the electrons.

Open in App
Solution

Potential difference, V=100V
Magnetic field ,B=0.004T
Force, F=qV=mv22(K.E.)
V=2qvm
for radius of path, mv2R=qvB
R=mvqB=mqB×2qvm
R=10.004×9.1×1031×2×1001.6×1019
=843.17×105m
=8.43mm
Hence, the answer is 8.43mm.
