Question

An electron is moving with a velocity of 107m/s, enters a uniform magnetic field of 1 T. The direction of the velocity of electron is parallel to the magnetic field. What would be its trajectory in this field?

Solution

Force on a change particle in a magnetic field is given by
F = qVB sin θ where θ is the angle between V and B V B (given ) θ = 0o , sin0o =0 F = 0
hence direction of velocity of electron will not change or its trajectory will not change , it will continue to move parallel to the magnetic field .
