An element crystallizes into a structure which may be described by a cubic unit cell having one atom at each corner of the cube and two atoms on one of its diagonals. If the volume of this unit cell is 24×1024cm3 and density of element is 7.2 gcm3, calculate the number of atoms present in 200 g of the element.

Number of atoms in a unit cell (Z)=1+2=3

Z=l3×ρ×NM

M=l3×ρ×NZ

=24×1023×7.2×6.023×10233=34.69

Number of atoms =MassMolar mass×6.023×1023

=20034.69×6.023×1023=3.47×1024.

Thus, the number of atoms 3.47×1024
