Solution

To identify the element we need to find an atomic number(Z) and mass number(A) of the element;

Atomic number (Z): The number of protons present in the nucleus of an element is called the atomic number.

  • Atomic number(Z) = No. of protons
  • The given element has eight protons, so the atomic number(Z) is 8.

Mass number (A): The number of protons and neutrons present in the nucleus of an element is called the Mass number(Z).

  • Mass number(A) = No. protons + No. of neutrons
  • The given element has eight protons and eight neutrons, so the mass number(Z) is 16.

Therefore, the element with an atomic number is 8, and a mass number is 16 is Oxygen.

  • The element Oxygen is represented as (O816)
