Solution

Alkali metals: alkali metals are the elements that are placed in group 1 and are belongs to the s-block.

as we can calculate the electronic configuration of the given element which has an atomic no 11.

The electronic configuration of the given element is: 2, 8, 1

So, yes this element is belong to group 1 as in the last shell only 1 electron is present.

The electronic configuration of atomic no. 12 and 10 are as follows:

Atomic no 10: 2, 8

As we can see the total no. of shells is 3 so it will be the member of the 3rd period and as the total no. of electrons in its outer shell is 8 so it will be the member of group 18. and the name of the group is noble gases (because they don't react with any other elements).

Atomic no 12: 2, 8, 2

As we can see the total no of shells is 3 so it will be the member of the 3rd period and as the total no of electrons in its outer shell is 2 so it will be the member of group 2 and the name of the group is noble alkaline earth metals (because they react with water to form alkaline solution and they found in earth crust).
