Question

An equilateral triangle has ___ lines of symmetry.

Open in App
Solution

  • A figure is said to have a line of symmetry or linear symmetry if there exists a line which divides the figure into two identical halves such that they coincide when folded along this line.

A line of symmetry for a triangle must go through one of its vertices. The line of symmetry is drawn from the vertex in such a way that the sides align when folded. Hence, in the case of an equilateral triangle, the line of symmetry can be drawn from all the 3 vertices as shown in the figure.
