On applying hypotenuse leg congruency, we get that perpendicular in an equilateral or isosceles triangle divides the triangle into two congruent triangles hence it divides the base into two equal parts.
Here ABDACD
Hence, BD=CDIn the above figure,
applying pythagoras theorem in ABD
AB2=BD2+AD2
a2=(a2)2+(63)2
a2=a24+36×3
4a2a2=4×36×3
3a2=4×36×3
a2=4×36
a=2×6
a=12 cm

Now, perimeter of equilateral triangle=3×side of triangle
Perimeter=3×12
Perimeter=36 cm
