Question

An ether is more volatile than a alcohol having the same molecular formula . This is due to

1) alcohols having resonace structures

2) intermolecular hydrogen bonding in ethers

3) intermolecular hydrogen bonding in alcohols

4) dipolar character of ethers

Solution

3) This is due to alcohol have strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding therefore boiling point is high.
There is inverse relationship between boiling point and vapour pressure.
Hence ethers are more volatile because their boiling point is low
