Open in App
Solution

Physical change: A change that alters some specific property of a substance without any change in the composition of its molecules. No new substance formed during the physical change.

Chemical change: A change that alters the specific property of a substance by bringing about a change in its molecular composition followed by a change in its state.

Example: The burning of a candle is a good example in which both physical and chemical changes.

Physical change: The melting of wax is a physical change because wax changes its state from solid to liquid without changing chemical composition.

Chemical change: The burning of candle produced heat and carbon dioxide which are new substances. So, it is a chemical change.
