Solution

Hint: 1. Perimeter of rectangle =2(l+w)

2. Area of rectangle =l×w

Step 1: Let the given mat is of rectangular shape

Let it is of length = l units

Let it is of width = w units

Step 2: According to given condition that is mat is 3.3 times as long as it is wide we get:

l=3.3w

Step 3: Now perimeter

=2(l+w)=2(3.3w+w){usingl=3.3w}=2[3.3+1]w=2(4.3w)=8.6w

Perimeter = 8.6w units.

And

Area=l×w=3.3w×w{usingl=3.3w}

Area = =3.3w2square units

Hence,

Perimeter = 8.6w units

Area = =3.3w2square units.
