An extended wheatstone bridge is as shown in the figure below. If C1=C2=C3=C4=10 μF and C5=C6=C7=C8=5 μF , then find the value of equivalent capacitance.

Applying the principle of wheatstone bridge, the given circuit reduces to the following


Let C be the equivalent capacitance in the upper arm and C′′ be the equivalent capacitance in the lower arm.

Thus, Equivalent capacitance of the given circuit Ceq=C+C′′

Equivalent capacitance in the upper arm:

1C=110+110+15

C=52 μF

Equivalent capacitance in the lower arm:

1C′′=110+110+15

C′′=52 μF

Therefore, Ceq=52+52=5 μF
