Question

An integer is chosen at random between 0 and 100. What is the probability that it's
divisible by 7
not divisible by 9.
What is the possible outcomes???

Open in App
Solution

Since 7 X 14 = 98 which is the largest divisible integer by 7, lesser than 100.
So, there are in total 14 integers divisible by 7 in this case.
So, a) Probability = 14/100 = 7/50.

b) Probability of not divisible by 9 = 1- probability of divisible by 9 ( as the total probaility is 1)

since 9 X 11 = 99 which is the largest divisible integer by 9, lesser than 100

so there are in total 11 intergers divisible by 9 in this case

so probability = 11/100

probability of not divisible by 9 = 1-11/100 = 89/100

possible outcomes is the the outcomes that are possible when we do something

example when we toss a coin the possible outcomes are HEAD AND TAIL.
