An ion has a charge whereas an atom does not. So what can an ion do that an atom can't. And also how does the ion do that ?

An ion can donate its electron to other ions or can accept electrons from other atoms to make bond. This way an ion can give many reaction. It can also produce electricity using its charge.
An atom is not reactive but an ion can react easily
