Given - Diameter of iron ring =1.20 m Diameter of wooden cart is 1 cm greater than the iron ring. Coefficient of linear expansion α=12×106/C
For the ring to slip - Diameter of Ring = Diameter of wooden wheel.
we must Increase the Temperature of the Iron Ring to get an increment of 1 cm=0.01 m
we know- ΔD=D0αΔT
0.01 m=1.2×12×106×ΔTΔT=0.0112×106×1.2=694.4C Hence the Temperature must be increased by 694.4C
