Given, Coefficient of volume expansion of iron is γ=3.6×105/C
Thus,
Coefficient of linear expansion is α=γ3=1.2×105/C
Change in length of diameter of the iron tyre so that it fits the wooden wheel should be Δd=6 mm=0.006 m
So, original diameter of the iron tyre =10.006=0.994 m
We know,
Δd=d×α×ΔT
0.006=0.994×1.2×105×ΔT
ΔT500C
