Question

An irregular shaped body of mass 250g in put in eureka can and water displaced is collected in measuring cylinder in which water is already at mark 20cm3 Now the water level rises to 60cm3. Calculate

Density of body in CGS and SI units.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given Data

Mass of body 250g

Initial water level 20cm3

Final water level 60cm3

Step 2: Calculation of volume of body

Volume=changeinwaterlevel

Volume=60cm3-20cm3= 40cm3

Step 3: Calculation of Density of body in CGS and SI units.

Density=massVolume

Desnity=25040 g/cm3

=6.25g/cm3
Hence, the density of the body in CGS units is 6.25g/cm3.

Density in SI units =6.25x1000kg/m3

=6250kg/m3.

Hence, the density of the body in SI units is 6250kg/m3.
