Consider an Isosceles triangle ABC, with AB=AC=26 cm., BC=20 cm
Draw a perpendicular AD on non- congruent side BC.
In an Isosceles triangle a perpendicular bisects the non congruent side.
Hence, BD=12BC=12(20)=10 cm
In ABD,
AB2=AD2+BD2
262=AD2+102
676=AD2+100
AD2=576
AD=24 cm
Area of triangle = 12AD×BC
= 12(24×20)
= 240 cm2
