Question

An NPN transistor operates as a common emitter amplifier with a power gain of 106. The input circuit resistance is 100Ω and the output load resistance is 10KΩ. The common-emitter current gain ‘β’ will be ______. (Round off to the nearest integer)

Solution

Given data:

Power gain, Pgain=106

Input resistance, Rin=100Ω

Input resistance, Rout=10KΩ=10000Ω

Finding common-emitter current gain ‘β’.

Formula used:

Pgain=β2×RoutRin

β2=Pgain×RinRout

β2=106×10010000

β=104

β=100

Hence, The common-emitter current gain beta will be 100
