Solution

The correct option is C 1.16×103 m/s, towards the lens
Given:
Focal length, f=+0.3 m
Object distance, u=20 m
velocity of object, Vo=5 m/s

(Considering velocity is +ve towards right direction)

Using relation between speed of image & speed of object:

Vi=(ff+u)2Vo

Vi=(0.30.320)2V0=(0.319.7)2×(5)

Vi=1.16×103 m/s

Vi=1.16×103 m/s, towards lens.

Hence, (c) option is correct.
Why this question?
To understand the relation between speed of object & speed of an image with sign convention.
