An object is placed at 90 cm from the lens with the radius of curvature 40 cm. The central portion of a lens is wrapped in a black paper as shown below. How will the image change after wrapping the black paper?
\( \stackrel{\uparrow}{+\infty} \)
The intensity of the image formed will decrease.
Formation of image requires only two rays and nature of image depends only on the focal length of lens and the object location. Hence, image will be formed at the same location. However, the rays that were passing earlier through the black region are not passing now and hence, the intensity of the image will be reduced.
