Question

An object is placed at the centre of curvature of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 20cm and focal length 10cm. At what distance from the pole will its image be formed?

Solution

Step-1: Given

The radius of curvature of a concave mirror, R=20cm

Focal length, f=10cm

Step-2: When the object is placed at the center of curvature of a concave mirror the position of the image will be exactly at the centre of curvature which will be inverted and of the same size as the object.

Step-3: The distance from the pole the image formed will be the same as that of the radius of curvature

The distance from the pole the image formed = radius of curvature R=20cm

Hence, the image will be formed at a distance of 20cm from the pole of the mirror.
