An object is placed infront of a converging lens of focal length 20 cm. The distance of the object from the lens is 30 cm. Find:
1. the position of the image formed,
2. the magnification and
3. the nature of the image formed.

The correct option is B v=+60 cm, m=2 , image is real, inverted and magnified.
The lens is a converging lens, i.e. a convex lens.
Given: focal length, f=20 cm;
Object distance, u=30 cm
Let the image distance be v.
We know that,
1v1u=1f
so,
v=u×fu+f=30×2030+20=+60 cm
Therefore, the image will be formed at a distance of 60 cm on the other side of the optical centre of the convex lens.
Magnification,
m=vu=+6030=2
The image formed is real, inverted, and magnified.
