Question

An object is thrown up and reaches a height of h'm. If the object comes back to the initial position, what will be the distance and displacement covered by it

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Distance is the total path length covered by an object whereas the displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final point.
So, here the object first goes to height h and then come back to the ground after covering the same height h.
so distance =h+h =2h meter.
and as the obect comes back to its initial position, the initial point = final point
hence, displacement =0 meter
