An object of $10 c m$ is placed at a distance of $20 c m$ from a lens of focal length $25 c m$ . The object is placed erect on the principal axis of the lens yet a crooked image was formed.
Explain why.

Solution

The size of the object is large enough to be comparable to the lens's aperture, so it deviates from following the ideal lens formula and hence we get a crooked image.
