Question

An object of 2 cm height is placed at a distance of 10 cm from a concave mirror of radius of curvature 30 cm. Find the image distance, height and magnification.

Open in App
Solution

Given that,

Focal length f=R2

Radius of curvature R=30

Object distance u=10cm

Height of object ho=2cm

From the mirror formula,

1f=1v+1u

1v=1u1f

1v=110230

1v=3230

v=30cm

Now, the magnification is

m=vu

m=3010

m=3

Now, the height of image

m=hiho

3=hi2

hi=6cm

Hence, the image distance is 30 cm, height of image is 6 cm and magnification is 3
