Solution

Object-size, h = + 4.0 cm;
Object-distance, u = – 36.0 cm;
Focal length, f = –12.0 cm;
Image-distance, v = ?
Image-size, hi = ?
Mirror formula is (1/v) + (1/u) = 1/f

1/v = (1/f) − (1/u)
= (−1/12) + (1/36)
= -24/(36*12)
= -1/18

v = − 18 cm (The image is real.)

m = hi/ho = -v/u
= -(-18/-36)= -1/2

hi / 4 =-1/2
hi = -2 cm.

The image formed is real , inverted and diminished .
