Solution

The correct option is A 1000J
Given, massofobject,m=40kg ;
height,h=5m ;

Acc. due to gravity, g=10ms2
Initial potential energy at a height of 5 m,
EP1=mgh=40×10×5=2000J

Initial kinetic energy, EK1=0

Final potential energy at a height of 2.5 m
EP2=mgh=40×10×2.5=1000J

Final kinetic energy, EK2=?

By conservation of energy,
Initialmechanicalenergy=Finalmechanicalenergy
or EP1+EK1=EP2+EK2
or 2000+0=1000+EK2
or EK2=20001000J=1000J
