The correct option is B 1 KJ
As the kinetic energy gets converted to Potential energy when an object is raised to a height therefore,
PE = mgh
Given, m = 40 Kg, h = 5 m and g = 10 ms2
PE = 40 x 5 x 10 = 2000 J
Now, Potential energy of the object when raised to half of its height will
PE/2 = 2000 J/2 = 1000 J
Therefore, Kinetic energy at half-way down will be 1 KJ.
