Archimedes' principle states that the upward buoyant force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether fully or partially submerged, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces. The buoyant force is calculated by the loss of weight of the body in liquid.
Here, the weight of an object in air = 10N, the weight of an object in a liquid = 8N and loss of weight of the body in liquid = 10N - 8N = 2N
Hence the loss of weight of the body in a liquid is equal to weight displaced by the body which is 2N.
