An office supply stores writing pads in packs of 100 and packs of 250. The store has 84 packs of writing pads in stock totaling 12,300 writing pads. Calculate the number of writing pads if a customer buy half of the packs of 250 that the store has in stock.

The correct option is B 3,250
Let store have packs x in pics of 100 writing pads and y
packs in pics of 250 writing pads
Then total pads are 100x+250y (But given that total pads are 12300)
100x+250y=12300...........(1)
And total packs x+y (But total packs are 84 given)
x+y=84..........(2)
So x=84y, put this value of x in equation (1), we get
100(84y)+250y=12300
8400100y+250y=12300
100y+250y=123008400
150y=3900
y=26
Then 26 packs of 250 pads.
Then total pads of 250 packs = 26×250=6500
Then number of customer buying pads of = half of total pads = 65002=3250
