An oil- tanker exploded in a sea.At that instant an aircraft and submarine were present very above and below the oil tankers respectively at equal distance from it. find the ratio of the time taken by sound waves to reach the aircraft with respect to the time the wave to reach the submarine .

The correct option is B 4.47
Time taken by sound to read aircraft
t1=dv1
t1=d340
( speed of sound in air =340m/sec)
Time taken by sound to read submarine
t2=dv2=d1520
( speed of sound in water =1520ms1)
now, the ratio of time taken = t1t2=1520340=4.47
So, the ratio of time in above 2 cases is 4.47 :1.
