'An opaque paper when oiled becomes translucent.' Give reasons.

Solution

  1. Paper is formed up of fibers with pores running through them.
  2. When oil, grease, or fat gets into the paper, small droplets of the substance fill up the pores present in between the fibers.
  3. As a result, some light gets transferred while the rest will be reflected or absorbed.

Thus, the pores present in the paper get filled with oil that transmits the light and makes the paper translucent.
