An organism with two identical alleles for a character is
In organisms we can see that a character is controlled by a pair of factors called alleles. Out of this, one allele will be dominant (expresses its characters in both homozygous and heterozygous conditions) over another one i.e recessive (only expressed in homozygous condition). Homozygous means two copies of the same allele, that can be either two dominant alleles or two recessive alleles. Heterozygous means one of each type of allele, one dominant and one recessive.
Organisms having homozygous conditions are considered as pure-line organisms.
