An overhead water tanker is in the shape of cylinder has the capacity of 616 litres. The diameter of the tank is 5.6 m. find the height of the tank.
Diameter of tank =d=5.6 m
Radius of tank =r=d2
=5.62
=2.8 m
Volume of cylinder =616 litres =616×10−3 m3 [∵1 litre =10−3 m3]
=0.616 m3
We know that: Volume of cylinder =πr2h
or, 0.616=227×2.8×2.8×h
or, 0.616×722×1028×1028=h
or, h=0.025 m=2.5 cm [∵1 m=100 cm]
Therefore, the height of the tank =2.5 cm
