An umbrella is made by stitching 10 triangular pieces of cloth of two different colours each piece measuring 20 cm,50 cm and 50 cm. How much cloth of each colour is required for umbrella?

Area of triangle by heron's formula
semi-perimeter is given by
s=a+b+c2

=20+50+502=60

s(sa)(sb)(sc)

Area of each piece of cloth =(60)(6020)(6050)(6050)

=60×40×10×10

=240000

=24×100

=489.8979cm2


Total cloth required =10×489.8979cm2=4898.979cm2

Area of cloth of each color required is
4898.9792cm2=2449.489cm2
