When the die is thrown once, the possible outcomes are 1,2,3,4,5,6 i.e., totally 6 out comes.
Let E be the event of getting a number less than 5. Then the favourable outcomes are 1,2,3,4; i.e., 4 outcomes.
Therefore, probability of getting a number less than 5 is
P(E)=Number of favourable outcomesTotal number of possible outcomes=46=23.
