Solution

The correct option is A 3I032
Let I1,I2 and I3 be the intensities of transmitted light from P1,P2 and P3 respectively.

As unpolarized light passes through P1,

I1=I02

According to Malus law,

I2=I1cos2θ

I2=I02(cos260)

I2=I02(12)2=I08

Applying Malus law for P3

I3=I2cos2θ

I3=I08cos230

I3=I08(32)2=3I032

Hence, option (A) is correct.
Why this Question?:

Application :- The question involves the change in intensity (decreases) when ordinary light passes through different filters
