Solution

The correct option is C The temperature of the reactants
Few factors which affect the rate of the reaction are:
  1. The concentration of the reactants
  2. The nature of the reactants
  3. The surface area of the solid reactants
  4. The temperature of the reaction
  5. Presence of a catalyst and light
All the other factors are same for the given test tubes, except that test tube 2 contains hot solution. The energy and speed of the molecules of reactants increases as the temperature increases. Hence, the rate of the reaction increases. Therefore, temperature is responsible for higher rate of reaction.
