Solution

Deforestation refers to the large-scale clearing of forest areas. It has several adverse effects and with an increase in deforestation, it has now become an environmental epidemic.
Deforestation also affects animal life in the following ways:
  1. Deforestation causes global warming that leads to drastic climate change and animals have to constantly adapt to the changing climate. Some animals have become endangered or extinct due to this.
  2. Loss of vegetation and forest cover has accelerated the process of soil erosion, making it difficult for herbivores to search for reliable source of food.
  3. Many animals get displaced in search of new habitats and enter urban areas. This becomes a threat to humans and other domesticated animals. They also lose their feeding grounds.
  4. Flooding has increased in the coastal areas and this affects the livestock, humans and other wildlife near the coasts.
