Sewage:

  1. There are a lot of microorganisms and organic materials in wastewater or sewage water.
  2. The majority of microorganisms are harmful, meaning they can cause mortality in aquatic creatures as well as disease in humans.
  3. As a result, sewage treatment is carried out before discharge into bodies of water.
  4. Polluted water is cleaned by eliminating the pollutant before it is dumped into bodies of water.
  5. Sewage treatment is the name given to this kind of wastewater treatment.
  6. The sewage contains both inorganic and organic impurities.

Inorganic impurities:

The inorganic impurities include pH, chlorides, sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus, and heavy metals.

Organic impurities:

  1. In sewage, there are more organic contaminants such as water, oil, urea, nitrates and phosphates etc.
  2. In addition to this, vegetable and fruit peel wastes and naturally derived pesticides are also organic impurities.
