Ankit walks $30$ m towards north, after walking $30$ m he turned left i.e. towards west and walked $40$ m.

Then takes a left turn i.e. towards south and moves $30$ m.

So, now he is in the same line and $40$ m far from where he started.

Then he again turned left i.e. towards East and walked $50$ m.

Thus, he passes through his original starting point after covering $40$ m and hence he is 10 m East from the starting point.

Hence, option 'D' is correct.
