Solution

The correct options are
B Ann asked Jane if she was her friend.
C Ann asked Jane whether she was her friend.

The two ways of relating what a person has said are 1)direct and 2)indirect (reported).

In the direct speech, the exact words of the original speaker are repeated.

In the indirect speech (reported speech), the exact meaning of what the speaker told is expressed but not necessarily in the speaker’s exact words.

Option B and C are correct as the proper introductory verb 'asked' is used, appropriate conjunction 'if/whether' is used and the given question is in simple present tense so the reported sentence uses the simple past tense and 'your' becomes 'her' and ends with a full stop.

Options C and D are not correct as the simple past tense is not used while transforming the sentence to the indirect speech and 'said' cannot be used as the introductory verb as the sentence inside the inverted commas is interrogative.

The correct answer is B) Ann asked Jane if she was her friend. and C)Ann asked Jane if she was her friend.
